Each year, the National Safety Council (NSC) recognizes CEOs Who “Get It”. Whether the company employs 50 or 50,000, these leaders prioritize worker safety and health. These recognitions are based on four criteria: risk reduction, performance measurement, safety management solutions, and leadership and employee engagement.
Danella’s Chairman & CEO, Jim Danella, has been recognized as one of 2025’s award recipients. A few of his notable accomplishments that led to his nomination include:
- Ensures his supervisors and teams have all the necessary resources to work safely and efficiently, fostering both productivity and well-being.
- Implemented daily safety-focused conference calls, highlighting his proactive and forward-thinking approach to safety.
- Advocates for using technology and innovation to strengthen and enhance safety protocols.
- Invests in cutting-edge tools and programs that elevate and reinforce the company’s safety infrastructure.
Mr. Danella believes “safety is never static – we recognize that we need to constantly evolve to meet new challenges, incorporate better practices, and stay ahead of risks.” Through effective leadership and a strong commitment to safety initiatives, the culture of safety runs deep through all departments at Danella.
While physical safety is of utmost importance, Mr. Danella also highlights the need for mental health and well-being in the lives of everyone at Danella. Programs, resources, guest speakers and encouraging open communication creates an environment where people feel safe to express their concerns and opinions. Unfortunately, the construction industry has one of the highest rates of suicide among industries across the U.S. Fostering a workplace that understands and tackles these issues is incredibly important in preventing an increase in these statistics.
Mr. Danella is passionate about creating a working environment that focuses on the people, and ensuring their safety is paramount. “To me, safety means protecting and supporting, in every possible way, the people who make Danella what it is.”
