Matthew Hague joined Danella in January of 2026 as Operations Manager of Wireless Communication Services, bringing nearly 30 years of experience across all aspects of wireless infrastructure development and planning.
Starting out in the 1990s as an electrician in the emerging wireless space, Matt quickly moved into communication tower erection and construction. He traveled the country building infrastructure that continues to serve as the backbone of our modern connected world.
Following 12 years of field work, Matt transitioned into management and leadership, overseeing efforts related to the built wireless environment as well as related real estate. As both an employee and consultant to wireless contractors and major carriers at various points, Matt managed large-scale site acquisition and development, carrier deployments inclusive of lease negotiations and renewals, zoning and permitting, A&E, and construction services throughout the eastern United States. His efforts expanded employer and client market share while advancing larger wireless industry growth.
Today, Matthew leverages his vast experience and professional network to build out Danella’s wireless division (including the addition of site acquisition services) with the goal of positioning Danella as a full turnkey player serving all wireless industry carriers and tower owners.
We sat down with Matt to learn a little more about his background, his work, and more.
Matt, what are your primary responsibilities as Operations Manager of Danella’s wireless division?
Boiled down, I strive to create an environment where our field teams and management have synchronicity as well as efficiency. This involves leveraging technology to poise our division for steady, consistent growth. For example, we’re currently introducing new technology that eliminates the use of paper in the field.
Can you describe how you might spend a typical workday or week?
Is there anything seismic happening in your field that’s worth sharing? Anything you wish more people knew?
For years, the wireless industry was focused on increasing connectivity speed. Having largely delivered on that front, the focus is shifting to wireless capacity and densification – needs driven by the shift to next-generation technology including AI, automation, and breakthroughs like driverless cars. As these technologies become mainstream, networks need to be able to seamlessly accommodate their wireless demands. Danella’s customers and prospective customers are eyeing up emerging options and network slicing that allow them to deliver more directly to the consumer. This is driving a rise in demand for small cell projects and DAS systems.
What makes Danella a good fit for the kind of work you oversee?
Danella is perfectly poised to lead this industry shift. The company’s reach, innovation, and capabilities position us to expand well beyond standard telecommunications installs and to overhaul how the industry operates and delivers.
Is there anything you’d like to share about your life outside of work, or how you spend your free time?
I’ve been married for 28 years to my wife, Melissa. We have a daughter, Emma, who is 15 years old, as well as a horse named Zac and two Ragdoll cats, Evie and Jax. I am a passionate hiker; I hike every day, and everywhere I travel. I spend most weekends at Melissa’s and Emma’s equestrian competitions which gives me a chance to visit and hike in a lot of different states!
