Safe, Sound, and Showing Up: OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week

OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week is a reminder that the best safety programs are built before you need them. At Danella, we couldn’t agree more.

Every August, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) brings together businesses, organizations, and workers across the country for Safe + Sound Week: a nationwide event dedicated to recognizing the wins of workplace safety and health programs and encouraging every employer to keep building on them. And with more than 5,000 workers killed on the job in the United States every year, it’s a week that deserves more than just a mention.

Safe + Sound isn’t just about compliance; it’s about culture. OSHA’s campaign is built around three core pillars that form the backbone of any effective safety program, including management leadership, worker participation, and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards. When all three are working together, the result is a workplace where safety isn’t something that gets talked about once a year, but every single day.

Management leadership sets the tone. When the people at the top make safety a visible, genuine priority, not just a checkbox, it filters through every level of an organization. Worker participation is equally critical, because the people actually doing the work are often the first to know where the risks are. Tapping into that knowledge, creating an environment where speaking up feels safe, and making workers active partners in the safety process is one of the most effective things any company can do. And finding and fixing hazards systematically, proactively, and before something goes wrong is what separates a reactive safety culture from a truly preventative one.

Safety has been ingrained into the Danella culture for decades, starting with our Stretch and Flex program, fall prevention protocols, our new helmets, and much more. We ensure our crews and job sites stay safe through continued education year-round. Daily Job Hazard Analysis helps to keep the team informed and ready. Every employee can stop unsafe work through Stop Work Authority and report near misses to help spread and educate throughout our divisions. Our crews show up to demanding environments across the country, and the commitment to bringing every one of them home safe is something leadership takes personally.

Safe + Sound Week is a reminder to stay safe and use stop work authority if you feel a job site could become an accident.
