A new chapter in how Danella protects its people.
At Danella, our commitment has always remained the same: no matter the division, no matter the job site, the people doing the work come first. This June, that commitment took a noticeable leap with the official introduction of the Milwaukee BOLT™ Type 2 safety helmets, marking the beginning of Danella’s company-wide transition away from traditional hard hats across all divisions and operations nationwide.

From electric, gas, water, steam, communications, railroad, and everything in between, Danella’s crews operate in some of the most demanding environments in the industry every single day. The range of that work is exactly why this upgrade matters as much as it does. The rollout brought the field into their local division offices to receive their new gear firsthand, with leadership and Milwaukee representatives on hand to walk through the why and the how behind the change. Photos from several of the locations are below. For Pennsylvania, Kevin Coe, Danella’s Director of Risk Management, and Al Alessandrine, Vice President of Construction, spoke directly to what this transition means for the people out in the field. It was less of a formal presentation and more of a conversation, the kind that reflects the culture Danella has built over more than 50 years in the industry.
So, why the change? The Milwaukee BOLT™ Type 2 is a major upgrade from the traditional hard hats in every measurable way. Tested by Virginia Tech, which is the gold standard in third-party head protection and research and the same institution that evaluates helmets for the NFL and NHL, the safety helmets deliver a 51% reduction in concussion and traumatic brain injury risk and an 81% reduction in skull fracture risk. While the traditional hard hat was built to protect against overhead falling objects, the Milwaukee BOLT™ Type 2 is built for a broader range of impacts, including falls, one of the leading causes of construction-related brain injuries each year.
For Danella’s clients, partners, and crews, this transition reflects the standard of care bring we comes to every project we take on. It’s a straightforward message that lets those out in the field know: we see all the work you do; we understand the risks that come with it; and we are always going to invest in your protection. Because Pride in Everything We Do starts long before the work begins
