Stories from the Field: MindForge

An important safety message is only helpful if it reaches the crews who need it. To improve those communications, Danella has started using MindForge, an application that connects crews to critical safety notices, training, and other important messaging.

Prior to MindForge, communications were handled in a variety of ways. Training and safety information was often sent via email, while more urgent communications were sent via text. But like most of us, email inboxes fill up… and individual texts can get lost. There was also no way to know for sure if an important message was received.

The Solution: MindForge

MindForge has been a game changer. “With MindForge, everyone is on the app,” says Taylor Murray, Danella’s Director of Safety and Development. “It allows us to send out safety communications and other key messaging and instantly see who has viewed it. We have a layer of accountability that we’ve never had before.”

The new app allows all messaging to be streamlined and sent in a consistent way across different divisions of the company. Employees can better separate their work (MindForge) and personal (text) messaging.

The app is currently used to update crews on job site locations, communicate key information, and send urgent safety notices. During storm restoration projects, the app helps Danella get crews to key locations faster than ever before.

If a crew member has a question or is missing something, they can ask for help on MindForge and get a quick response – which is helping to improve safety, productivity, and the quality of the work.

As Danella’s corporate safety policies get refined, procedures can be easily updated through the app and communicated with all crews instantly. This is a huge improvement over the old process and will help ensure compliance with new safety procedures.

In the future, MindForge will also be used for training. A Powerpoint presentation or video can be sent via the app, and crew members can view the content and take a quiz to show their completion of the training. This will be very helpful for customer-mandated training, since Danella can show the customer that the crews have completed the required training.

Before Danella chose MindForge, they wanted to make sure the app was easy to use and would streamline operations – and not just be “one more thing” that crews must deal with. The results have been very positive. Once a person creates their account (a simple process), they can jump right on and use the app.

We wanted to keep things simple, and MindForge is really easy to use. If you can send a text or an email, you can use MindForge.
